Coquina Homer says there is nothing that she loves more than discussing a great book. That is one of the reasons she also loves to teach.
In Ms. Homer’s classes, students are invited to examine the ideas of great authors and the personalities of the characters they create. Students are also invited to share their insights in a respectful discussion that enhances their appreciation of the works being explored.
Ms. Homer’s goal is to help students personally identify with the people and ideas found in great literature, while also discovering a personal love for reading. In the process, students learn something about themselves, and develop a lifelong desire to make reading an integral part of their lives.
Prior to joining Florida Virtual School, Ms. Homer taught English at Lakewood Ranch High School in Manatee County, Florida. She joined FLVS to be part of a faculty that is equally passionate about teaching, and equally interested in offering individualized instruction to students. Her approach is to help all her students feel personally supported and challenged.
Ms. Homer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in English from Liberty University.
