There are times when
absolute accuracy is essential. Recording final student grades
is one of those important times. It is these times that the
accurate skills of Support Assistant, Charleen Hornburg are
also essential.
As Support Assistant,
Ms. Hornburg ensures that more than 6,000 grades are precisely
recorded each year. It is a process that starts at the beginning
of the school year with student registration. Continues throughout
the year with the distribution of student contact letters. And
concludes at year's end with updated transcripts containing
the academic history of all FLVS students.
Ms. Hornburg is no stranger
to the importance of accuracy. After high school, she worked
for 9 years in the circulation department of the Orange County
Library System. She then changed careers to work in the field
of education. For the next 11 years, Ms. Hornburg worked as
a guidance clerk and paraprofessional for Orange County Public
Schools.
While working with Orange
County Schools, Ms. Hornburg was recognized as her school's
employee of the year. Not only did she maintain accurate student
records, she also won the admiration of her peers as a person
"who could do it all."
Today, as a member of
the FLVS staff, Ms. Hornburg stays connected to students, parents
and teachers. For her, accuracy means respecting the records
of each student. But more importantly for Ms. Hornburg, good
customer services means respecting the people whom you serve.
