Carole Ezell

Carole Ezell

English III
Florida Virtual School

When Carole Ezell was a graduate student working on her degree in English, she was given the assignment of teaching a freshman undergraduate English class. It was an eye-opening experience. She discovered that standing in front of the class is where she should be. A discovery that is not so surprising given that her parents and grandparents were also teachers.

It has been more than nine years since that epiphany experience, and Ms. Ezell has stood before many hundreds of students. Her goal throughout has been to pass on her passion for reading, and her excitement for the people and stories found in great literature. Ms. Ezell believes that there is at least “one perfect book” for each student. The challenge is to help each student find it.

Ms. Ezell says she treats all of her students as unique individuals with individual needs. She believes that the student-centered approach of Florida Virtual School’s online curriculum provides flexibility and the opportunity to communicate frequently with her students on a one-to-one basis.

Prior to coming to FLVS, Ms. Ezell taught composition at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. She has also taught English at Mariner High School in Cape Coral, and 8 th grade Language Arts and yearbook at Alva Middle School in Lee County, Florida.

Ms. Ezell earned her Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History were both awarded by Birmingham-Southern College.
