April O’Bryan says her goal is to make class a fun, positive and spirited learning environment. It is the kind of environment that comes naturally for Mrs. O’Bryan who loves reading, writing and teaching others about the excitement found in books.
Mrs. O’Bryan’s classes are marked by an open exchange of thoughts and ideas. Her teaching style involves large amounts of listening – a teaching style that allows students to feel comfortable when developing and expressing their ideas. When ideas are well conceived and well presented, everyone in class benefits.
Before coming to Florida Virtual School , Mrs. O’Bryan taught English and Social studies for eight years. Her talent and experience were recognized by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards when they awarded her National Board Certification in English/Language Arts.
Mrs. O’Bryan’s interest in joining the FLVS faculty is prompted in part by family responsibilities. Her son, Connor, is three and her daughter, Macy, is one. For Mrs. O’Bryan, the ability to balance the needs of her family and the academic needs of her students makes online teaching the perfect option.
Mrs. O’Bryan earned her B.A. from Warner Southern College, and her A.A. from Polk Community College .
She also played classical violin for ten years.
April O'Bryan is a school-wide mentor and English instructor for FLVS.
