Thinking globally involves more than
knowing the names of capitol cities and the location of the
world's oceans. It also involves an understanding of the values,
beliefs and customs of the people who inhabit our world.
Robin Winder believes
that this understanding is vital to the study of all branches
of social studies. In her classes, she demonstrates that an
appreciation of cultural differences is also a wonderful source
of intellectual excitement and adventure.
For eight years, Ms.
Winder taught both middle and high school social studies prior
to taking a 3½ -year break to spend with her family. She has
also worked as a social studies editor of textbooks for Harcourt
Brace. Recently, Ms. Winder chose to return to teaching with
FLVS wanting an instructional environment that emphasized working
one-on-one with individual students.
Ms. Winder earned her
Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies from the University
of Central Florida.
